BYD’s new Flash Charging technology can raise a battery from 10% to 70% in roughly five minutes and up to 97% in about nine minutes under ideal conditions, thanks to the redesigned Blade Battery.
The system debuted on ultra‑luxury Yangwang U7 and Denza Z9 GT models before expanding to mass‑market vehicles such as the Yuan Plus (Atto 3) and the flagship Sealion 05
BYD is deploying 6,000 flash charging locations globally outside China, with 600 UK sites in the first wave and more in Europe.

A California startup called PowerStation Charging has recently turned the lights on at an EV fast charging station that’s completely powered by the sun. And best of all, it’s free.
The station, located at the Rasor Road exit off I-15 in Baker, California, doesn’t have a grid connection. Instead, no fewer than 1,080 solar panels feed up to 640 kilowatts to a massive 3.4-megawatt-hour battery pack that enables the station to function around the clock, even when there’s no sunshine.

Other EV News
With the national average gasoline price at $4.022/gal as of today, used EVs are becoming an incredibly attractive option—even for the most skeptical. Here are some of the strongest used EV picks in 2026, based on value, range, and market demand:
- The Chevrolet Bolt EV/EUV remains one of the strongest value plays in the used EV market, especially for commuters who can charge at home.
- Used Tesla Model 3 and Model Y continue to benefit from strong charging access and software features, with used prices still well below comparable new cars.
- The Nissan Leaf e+ is still a low-cost option, with the 62 kWh version delivering up to 226 miles of EPA range and low ownership costs.
- Hyundai’s flagship crossover, Ioniq 5, saw a sales jump in March 2026 as buyers chase the SUV‑style electric that rivals compact‑car fuel costs with an attractive price.
Buying a used EV seems to be a smart move right now. However, if you are browsing for one, always check for home‑charging capability, a state of battery health of at least 80 %, and warranty transferability.
