Let's dive in.

Mercedes-Benz HPC might be the most underrated charging network. We visit Daytona, FL.

I was driving through the I-95 corridor in the south-east earlier this month, and I’ve really noticed the increased density of the Mercedes-Benz HPC charging network expansion. This charging network often goes unnoticed, but deserves more of your attention and dollars, in my opinion. I stopped at the Buc-ee’s in Daytona, Florida to find several non-Tesla EVs at the Supercharger, and only one EQE driver on the Mercedes HPC charging station. I think more drivers need to know about their charging options.

Mercedes is of course one of the automotive backers behind the Ionna charging network, but at the same time, they are building their own Mercedes branded high-powered charging network. Launched only in late-2023, they have been building out their charging hubs at an impressive pace. As of this writing, there are 300+ charging stalls at a few dozen locations across 11 states, and one Canadian province.

Tesla patent reveals air suspension system to boost wireless charging efficiency

Tesla has published a new patent that sheds light on how the company could significantly improve wireless charging efficiency for future electric vehicles (EVs). The filing outlines a system that uses a vehicle’s air suspension to automatically adjust its position during wireless charging, helping ensure optimal energy transfer between the ground pad and the vehicle.

The patent, titled “Dynamic Adjustment for Wireless Charging Coupling Coefficients” and first shared by X user @seti_park, was published on March 12, 2026, though Tesla originally filed it in August 2025 with priority dating back to September 2024. The technology describes a closed-loop system that measures the magnetic alignment between a charging pad on the ground and a corresponding receiver mounted on the vehicle.

Gas Car Drivers Hit 5 Times Harder By Iran Oil Shock Than EV Owners

The war in Iran has disrupted global oil supplies, driving up fuel prices around the world and stoking fears that things could get much worse. It stands to reason that drivers of combustion cars are more exposed than EV owners.

A new study explores just how much better off electric car owners will be as gas prices surge.

Clean energy advocacy group Transport & Environment estimates that gas car drivers in Europe will be hit five times harder than EV drivers if oil stays above $100 a barrel. It predicts that the cost to drive 100 kilometers (62 miles) will increase to €14.20 (up €3.80) for gas-powered cars. Electricity costs will rise too, but the impact will be much less severe. The group estimates that the cost to cover the same distance in an EV will increase to €6.50 (up just €0.70).

That's it for today. See you next Tuesday!
