Tesla Opens First Public Tesla Semi Megacharger Site in Los Angeles

Tesla has opened its first public Tesla Semi Megacharger site in Los Angeles. The station reportedly offers up to 750 kW charging speeds and is open to Tesla Semi customers.

The Los Angeles site seems to be the first public Tesla Semi Megacharger that is not located at a Tesla factory. It is also the third Megacharger site currently visible on Tesla’s map.

Infrastructure such as this will likely play a key role in making the Semi competitive with diesel-powered transport trucks.

Porsche Unveils Cayenne S Electric, the mid-level trim of the new Cayenne Electric

The newly introduced S is the longest-range model in the lineup, with a WLTP-estimated 405 miles (653 kilometers) on a full charge, nearly 7 miles (11 km) more than the base model and 18 miles (30 km) more than the Cayenne Turbo.

It gets the same 113-kilowatt-hour battery as its siblings, which can be DC fast-charged at up to 400 kilowatts for a 10-to-80% top-up in less than 16 minutes.

The Porsche Cayenne S Electric starts from $128,650 (including destination) in the U.S., with the first deliveries making their way here by the end of summer.

Tesla, Google, and Carrier Join Forces to Save Americans $100B+ on Electricity

Here's a stat that'll make you raise an eyebrow: the US power grid runs at just 53% of its total capacity on average. A new industry coalition called Utilize — founded by Tesla, Google, Carrier, and others — is betting that fixing this could save American consumers over $100 billion over the next decade by tapping into all that idle capacity through battery storage and virtual power plants.

The coalition already scored its first legislative win in Virginia, and if the model spreads, your electricity bill could look very different in a few years. Get the full story here.

That's it for today. See you next Tuesday!
