US EV Fast-Charging Network Grows Amid High Gas Prices

Q1 2026 recorded a 34 % increase in public high‑speed EV chargers, adding 605 sites and bringing the total to roughly 13,500 fast chargers in the country—the fastest expansion in a year. The charging boom proved particularly propitious in March, as the Iran War roiled oil markets, gas prices surged, and Americans started searching for EVs en masse.

Ionna Is Teaming Up With Circle K To Boost Its EV Charging Network

The announcement is the latest in a string of recent tie-ups between retail giants and electric vehicle charging companies, who are racing to build out charging infrastructure with the anticipation that EV sales growth will rebound in the coming years.

Under the new deal, it plans to bring its high-powered stations to over 350 Circle K locations across the country, pushing it closer to its ambitious target of installing 30,000 charging bays by 2030. All Ionna stations are equipped with 400-kilowatt charging dispensers that support both CCS and the Tesla-style NACS connectors.

Tesla Semi Up Close – Canadian Unveil Event in Vaughan [Gallery]

Tesla held an event on April 14 to show off the Tesla Semi truck to Canadian fans for the first time. We were there to get impressions and learn as much as possible about this impressive new vehicle. While the truck at the event is not the latest iteration of the design, it still showcases a lot of the engineering and technologies that make 500 mile hauling possible.

This should also be a more successful and impactful product for Tesla’s financials than the Cybertruck, which turned out to be a niche product with polarizing design. The Semi has a more friendly face, and buyers are going to be swayed by the numbers. Running costs, maintenance, and fuelling is expected to be much cheaper than diesel equivalents.

We really look forward to seeing Tesla Semis on the road, starting later this year when it enters volume production.

That's it for today. See you next Tuesday!
