This Extension Cable Solves Two Big Problems at Tesla Superchargers

Tesla Superchargers are now open to 15+ vehicle manufacturers, including Ford, GM, Rivian, and more; however, they present a few problems for non-Tesla EV drivers.

Supercharger stalls were originally designed for Tesla vehicles, with cables that reach the rear-left charging port. So, non-Tesla EVs with charging ports on different sides of the vehicle end up occupying two spots to reach the port. That’s exactly what happened to us during our charging test of the Chevy Equinox EV RS.

Another issue is that vehicles with non-Tesla ports require you to bring your own adapter.

Hanssshow’s NACS to CCS1 extension cable solves these two problems. It can extend the Supercharger’s cable while also providing a CCS1 connector that plugs into the vehicle. Here’s the hands-on review by State of Charge.

Waymo Is Paying People $20+ to Close Robotaxi Doors

Waymo ditched human drivers, but it turns out they still need humans for something more basic: closing doors.

The company uses Jaguar I-Pace EVs with traditional manual doors, and for safety reasons, the car won't move if a door isn't fully shut. But this means that the robotaxis get stranded in the middle of intersections when passengers rush out and leave doors ajar.

The short-term solution the company has found is to pay gig workers between $20 and $24 for rescuing Waymo cars by closing the door.

The fix is coming eventually. Waymo is testing the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and developing custom robotaxis with Zeekr that feature automatic sliding doors. Until then, door-closers are keeping the fleet moving.

The Boring Company Launches Vegas Loop Airport Rides (Above Ground… For Now)

The Boring Company has reached another major milestone in Las Vegas, officially beginning limited Vegas Loop service to Harry Reid International Airport just days ahead of CES 2026.

For now, the service is limited to drop-offs only, running 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Pickups will start once transponders are installed in each vehicle. Rides cost around $12 from Resorts World or Westgate to either airport terminal.

Most of the trip is still above ground— for now. The Loop has more than 10 miles of tunnels dug, but only four miles are operational. These surface routes are temporary—once the 2.25-mile Airport Connector twin tunnels open in Q1 2026, the majority of the trip will shift underground, which should significantly improve speed.

At full build-out, Vegas Loop is planned to span 68 miles with 104 stations, linking the Strip, downtown, Allegiant Stadium, and the airport using Tesla vehicles. For now, it’s a preview of what could soon become one of the fastest ways to get from the airport to the Strip.
