Tesla Expands Live Supercharger Pricing to 550 More Locations

The "Live Pricing" program started as a pilot earlier this year, and now Tesla is expanding it to 550 new sites across key North American states (CA, NJ, NY, FL, IL). This pricing strategy adjusts rates based on real-time site utilization, not set peak times, aiming to reduce congestion and keep charging affordable for drivers.

Google Maps and Apple Maps Now Show Live Tesla Supercharger Availability

Continuing with Supercharger updates, Tesla has integrated live Supercharger stall availability into both Google Maps and Apple Maps since last week. This feature shows users how many charging stalls are open at any given moment, charging speeds, and more information about the facilities. This integration is going to make trip planning much easier for all EV owners, especially for non-Tesla drivers who won’t need to switch between apps anymore.

Tesla’s director of charging said on X that they are working with navigation providers to add more EV friendly features beyond live availability.

Rivian and Volkswagen Joint Venture (RV Tech) Prepares for Winter Testing

One year after its founding, the $5.8 billion joint venture between Rivian and Volkswagen is moving fast to bring the next-gen software and electrical architecture to the EV mass market. The team has grown to over 1,500 employees across the U.S., Canada, Sweden, Serbia, and Germany, and they've already finalized the architecture concepts for the first wave of VW Group EVs. Winter testing on prototype vehicles from Volkswagen, Audi, and Scout is set to begin in Q1 2026.

The tech they're building is called zonal architecture, which centralizes computing into just a few core "zones” instead of having dozens of separate computers scattered throughout the vehicle. This will result in less wiring, less cost, and easier over-the-air updates. The partners are also planning to license this scalable technology to other automakers and become the standard for the automotive industry.
